Your first safari destination will be lake Manyara national park. In Lake Manyara lions have developed a liking for residing in the branches of trees, where they can both sleep and watch for prey.
You will journey into Tanzania’s most famous park, Serengeti national park. Serengeti is known for its large migratory herds of wildebeest and zebras with strings of predators on trail. The park never disappoints all year round although its more exciting if you travelled at certain times of the year.
When is the best time to visit Serengeti ?
Thousands of wildebeest calves are born in Serengeti national park from January, February to march every year. If you take a tour around this time, you will witness wildebeest calving where 8000 young wildebeest are born each day.
In June and July wildebeest make their way across the Grumeti River moving northwest in the park in search of the green pasture. The sight of millions of wildebeest herds, zebras and predators is always an exciting experience while on a Kenya and Tanzania safari.
By December, the herds have started to make their way back down south to the southern Serengeti. Here they feed on the short green grasses of the plains after leaving the Masai Mara Game reserve. Therefore, one can book a Kenya and Tanzania combined safari at any time of the year.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area (NCA) is home of Ngorongoro Crater.
The crater was formed some 2.5 million years ago from a volcanic mountain sinking due to inactivity. It was initially thought to be higher than Tanzania’s famous Kilimanjaro. The crater has evolved into a unique and integral part of Tanzania’s ecosystem. The crater is actually a caldera. It measures 22.5 km’s across and the rim walls stand 600 m high. Views from within and from the rim are breath-taking. The crater houses 30,000 animals and a large variety of birds. The animals & bird life rarely move from the area due to the availability of water through wet and dry seasons.

On day 3 of our 5 days Tanzania Wildlife Safari you will spend a full day with morning and afternoon game drives to explore the plains, Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
Serengeti is easily Tanzania’s most famous national park, and it’s also the largest, at 14,763 square kilometres of protected area that borders Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Park.
With a wildebeest population of about 2 million and several other hoofed species (which include zebra, Thomson’s gazelle, impala, topi, Grants gazelle, Kongoni, Eland, Kirk’s dikdik, klipspringer, roan, Oryx, oribi, waterbuck, buffalo, giraffe and warthog), the Serengeti is sure to attract a string of prey such as lion, leopard, cheetah, hyena, golden jackals and bat eared foxes. Elephants are relatively scarce and the few remaining black rhinoceros are restricted to the Moru Koppies area. Serengeti also offers rewarding bird viewing with ostrich and kori bustard being common, a variety of larks, finches, and raptors can be seen but the most distinctive small bird is the lilac breasted roller.

After early morning breakfast leave with picnic lunch for a full day crater tour. You will be taken 2000ft down the crater by a 4wheel drive vehicle, explore the crater before ascending. Dinner and overnight stay at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge or similar.
